A tribute of historic signifi-
cance will be paid to President
Franklin D. Roosevelt at the
National Conference of the Jew-
ish National Fund on Sunday,
Nov. 10, at Hotel Statler, St.
Louis, Mo., when a replica of a
Roosevelt Golden Book will be
presented to the nation's Chief
Executive. The President has
designated Senator Alben W.
Barkley, majority leader in the
Senate of the United States, to
attend the session and to accept
the Golden Book in his behalf.
The presentation will be made
by Dr. Israel Goldstein, presi-
dent of the Jewish National
Fund.
Above is a reproduction of the
exceedingly beautiful volume of
the Sefer Ha'Zahav, the Jewish
people's Roll of Honor, which
has been dedicated to President
Roosevelt in recognition of his
humanitarian leadership. It con-
tains an "Address of Apprecia-
tion" to which nearly 1,000
American Jewish organizations,
Zionist groups and individuals
are signatories. Each of the sig-
natories contributed to the Jew-
ish National Fund the sum of
$100 for acquiring one acre of
land for the settlement of refu-
gees. The tribute was initiated
in the summer of 1938, follow-
ing President Roosevelt's historic
call to 32 nations for interna-
tional action to ameliorate the
plight of the refugees. Delegates
from more than 1,000 communi-
ties where Jewish National Fund
Councils are functioning are ex-
