include excerpts from his famous
roles in his lecture, "The New
Actor."
Summoned to. Hollywood after
revolutionizing Broadway, Welles
wrote his first motion picture,
"Citizen Kane," which he has
produced, directed and starred ill
as leading actor.
At 13 young Orson was direct-
ing a theatrical group in the
Todd School at Woodstock, 11!.
At 14 his father took him to
Dublin where he told whopping
tales of his reputation in the
United States, and so impressed
the members of Dublin's famous
Gate Theater that they cast and
recast him in the most difficult
of character parts. He was next
engaged as a guest artist by the
Abbey Players.
Back in America, he toured
with Katherine Cornell in "Ro-
meo and Juliet" and "Candida."
His spectacular activities cap-
ped the climax two years ago
when his "Man From Mars"
broadcast set a nation spinning
on its ears.
