Shaeffer Warns Against Pit-
falls of Foreign War
and Class Hatred

"Campaigns for election to pub-
lic service are never won by sign-
boards, over the radio waves,
or from the platform," said
George B. Schaeffer, successful
Detroit attorney, and Republican
nominee for Congress in the Four-
teenth District, in a stirring ad-
dress delivered recently. "They
are won in the homes and through
appeal to the hearts of loyal,
thinking, American citizens. I am
conducting my campaign on this
basis and pledge myself with hon-
esty and sincerity to devote my
best energies and capabilities to
the ask as hand of defending
American homes from enemies
within and from enemies with-
out."
Mr. Shaeffer pledges that he
will give all of the citizens of
the 14th District personal repre-
sentation, not a tool of special

interests and minority groups, or
a "yes" man for government by
beauracracy, as has been the con-
dition existing here for the past
six years. He is 100 per cent
for continuance of constitutional
government, against regimenta-
tion as exemplified in our new
Conscription Law, and is for old
age pensions, unemployment in-
surance, and the right of organ-
ized labor to collectively bargain,
a right already threatened by
certain provisions of the new
Conscription act.
