GERALDINE FARRAR

Geraldine Farrar, American
opera star, commentator and au-
thor, appears before the Detroit
Town Hall, at the Cass Theater,
next Friday morning, Oct. 25, at
11 o'clock. Miss Farrar after her
spectacular debut at the Royal
Opera House in Berlin, rose to
become the supreme American
singer of her time, the brightest
star of that "Golden Age of
Opera" when Caruso, Eames, Sem-
brich, Scotti and Toscanini domin-
ated the Metropolitan. After her
memorable farewell appearance at

"The Met" Miss Fairer turned
commentator and all the United
States has heard her radio talks
from the Box in the "Golden
Horseshoe" broadcasting for NBC
opera performances. As an au-
thor she has retained her unique
hold on the affections and esteem
of American people with her auto-
biography "Such Sweet Compul-
sion."
"The World of Music," her lec-
ture, is illustrated with reminis-
cences from her own remarkable
career.
