France were lulled to sleep by
other devices.
Now it would be distortion of
the truth if I did not say with
all conviction at my command
that even as Britain and France
awakened one day to see the
armored monster ready for the
kill, America will face the same
gruesome menace. For Germany
plans the conquest of America
once she has Europe securely un-
der her thumb. There is no per-
haps or maybe about this. This
is not a question of opinion, of
surmise, of conjecture.
When the soldiers in Hitler's
assault cars, rumbling into the
old European capitals of Prague
and Warsaw, Oslo, Amsterdam
and Brussels, sang lustily :
"Heute gehoert uns Europa and
morgen die ganze Welt"—today
Europe is ours, and tomorrow
the whole world—this was no
mere soldiers' ditty inspired by
a momentary exaltation over vic-
tories speedily won. These words
echoed the fundamental ambi-
tion and sheer, unbreakable de-
termination of Germany's lead-
ers and braintrusters, her scient-
ists, philosophers and chiefs of
the general staff, from the time
of Otto von Bismarck to the lat-
ter clays of Adolph Hitler.
"Today Europe, tomorrow the
whole world!"
For more than half a century
the Western hemisphere has fig-
ured in the plans of the Berlin
general staff as the final goal
and objective of Germany's
march to world power. It is here,
on this continent, that the
Reich's master strategists and
long-range economic planners not
only foresee but actually intend
to wage the final battle for the
mastery of the world. In their
calculations the Republic of the
United States of America ap-
pears as the last and supreme
enemy to be crushed before the
"World Empire of Germans" can
begin to fulfill its role and des-
tiny as the unchallenged and un-
challengable mistress of the uni-
verse "for a thousand years to
come."

Anti-Semitism Increases As Hun-
gary Moves Closer to Axis

GENEVA (WNS) — The Vi-
arbitration conference,
which resulted in Rumania's ces-
sion of Northern Transylvania
to Hungary under pressure from
Nazi Germany, has had profound
repercussions on Hungarian pol-
icy, resulting in changes which
place Hungary's Jews in an un-
precedentedly critical position.
Though a succession of anti-
Semitic Governments in Hungary
have decreed enough anti-Jewish
laws within recent years to pre-
clude any possibility of a nor-
mal life for the overwhelming
majority of Hungary's Jews, nev-
er before has Nazi influence
been permitted to play so domi-
nant a role in the domestic pol-
icy of the country.

Mexico, Permitted to Land

NORWALK, Va. (WNS) —
Eighty-three Gemran-Jewish ref-
ugees, refused admittance to
Mexico, were permitted to land
here as visitors after a four-day
wait in the harbor. It was an-
nounced that the refugees will
be permitted to remain here long
enough to arrange passage to
South American countries.
The refugees embarked on the
Portuguese steamship Quanza at
Lisbon, equipped with Mexican
visas. President Lazaro Cardenas
of Mexico ordered the ship to
leave the port of Veracruz, con-
tending that the refugees had
improper immigration certificates.
