he has gained extensive knowl-
edge and experience in the func-
tions and operation of that of-
fice. He is now a candidate for
the office of Judge of Probate
for Wayne County.
Coming to Detroit in Sept.,
1923, he secured employment with
the Union Trust Company on the
day following his arrival, where
he remained until 1932. He soon
attained recognition by his em-
ployer and became its official rep-
resentative in the Probate Court,
in which capacity he served for
six years. As an example of his
unbounded ambition and energy,
not content with any idle time
on his hands, he worked Satur-
days and nights in a shoe store,
a department store, and a public
utilities office during his earlier
days in this community; then
took a night school course in ac-
counting. In 1925 he entered
the night school of the Detroit
College of Law, from which he
graduated in 1929, and in 1931
was admitted to practice law in
all the Courts of Michigan and

Court bench.
In 1904 Judge Palmer began
his career with the Probate Court
as a clerk, and during the en-

position which ultimately ad-

appointed him to the Probate
bench, and in 1930 he was elect.

two children and has been a life-
