Anti-Nazi League Brands McWil-

The Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi
League has distributed thousands
of pamphlets branding Joseph E.
McWilliams, now on trial for dis-
orderly conduct charges growing
out of anti-Semitic speeches made
in connection with his Congres-

the Bund."
Called "Who is Joe McNazi?",
the pamphlet quotes the testi-

pressed approval of the legal
measures necessary "for the pro-
tection of the interest of the
United States and for safeguard-
ing this republic against the ne-

and the enemies of democracy."
The resolution stressed, how-

tween "fifth column" elements
and "the overwhelming majority
of immigrants who came to this
country recently or have in the
past fled from persecution abroad
and who are, in every sense, loyal
to the ideals of Americanism."
The conference expressed the

may transpire. At this moment
the Yishub is proceeding with its
normal life and work uninter-
rupted and will continue to do
so whatever hazards may await
us," Mr. Ussishkin declared in
his cable.
"Palestine Jewry is confident
that American Jewry, escaping
by Divine Providence the cruel
fate which has befallen Jewry
of the old world, will shoulder
the historic responsibility. During
the last war your influence and
financial help salvaged the then
small Yishub. Today your func-
tion is exceedingly greater. It is
your task not only to rescue
what has already been achieved
in Eretz Israel, but to provide
the political and material re-
sources necessary to carry on and
strengthen the Yishub in all direc-
tions.
"Present conditions render es-
sential and feasible the exten-
sion of agricultural settlement
in new spheres, stimulation of in-
dustry, maintenance of the pri-
mary cultural institutions and the
organization of the whole Yishub
as a strong united force. Fear-
lessly, we are awaiting whatever
may come. Our motto in this
grave hour is: Concentrate all
forces of our people for the de-
fense and extension of the Jew-
ish Homeland in Eretz Israel"
Mr. Ussishkin declared in his
cabled call.

Fourth $5,000 Installment on
Palestine Land Tract
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y.—
The Independent Order Brith
Abraham gave renewed expression
to its faith in the future of the
Jewish Homeland in Eretz Israel
as the delegates of one of the
largest Jewish fraternal organiza-
tions in the United States mapped
out an emergency program for
the coming year at the Order's an-
nual convention held in Conven-
tion Hall here, this week-end.
Dr. Israel Goldstein, president
of the Jewish National Fund of
America, who addressed the con-
vention following a speech by
Herbert H. Lehman, governor of
the State of New York, was pre-
sented with a check in the amount
of $5,000 constituting the fourth
annual installment on a $25,000
commitment entered into by the
Order for the acquisition of a
land tract in Palestine through
the Jewish National Fund. The
tract has been acquired by the
Keren Kayemeth and is located
in the Hills of Ephraim, Sama-
ria, in the vicinity of En Ha'Sho-
phet, the settlement bearing the
name of Supreme Court Justice
Louis D. Brandeis. Max Silver-

stein, a former Grand Master,
during whose administration the
agreement was entered into, pre-
sented the check to Herman Hoff-
man, the newly-elected Grand
Master, who in turn handed it to
Dr. Goldstein. Max L. Hollander,
grand secretary, participated in
the ceremony.
Dr. Goldstein, who praised the
cooperation of the I. 0. B. A.,
in the work of the Jewish Nation-
al Fund, told the delegates that
"our fellow Jews in Palestine,
up to this moment, have been
spared the agonies and the suf-
fering which have come over the
Jewish communities in Holland,
Belgium and France which many
thought were safer places six
months or even six weeks ago.
We ought to be grateful that
Eretz Israel has today a numer-
ically and morally strong Yishub
which will be in a position to
defend the Jewish Homeland if
necessary."

Weizmann Stresses Responsibility
of American Zionists for
Palestine
LONDON (Palcor Agency) —
The supreme role of American
Zionists and American Jews in
assisting the Yishuv in the most
critical stage of its its history
was stressed by Dr. Chaim Weiz-
mann, president of the Jewish
Agency for Palestine and the
World Zionist Organization, at a
meeting at 77 Great Russell St.
attended by leading Zionist rep-
resentatives including members of
the Actions Committee now in
London.
Dr. Weizmann reveiwed the
general situation and the Jewish
position in the world tragedy.
The Yishuv, he said, has an his-
torical role to play in the one of
the gravest hours of world ,Jewry.
The other Jewish c6okmunity
which bears "a tremendous re-
sponsibility" for the success of
the program is the Jewish com-
munity in the United States.
Emphasizing that the program
of the Jewish Agency is contin-
uing with full force even in the
midst of war, Dr. Weizmann par-
ticularly stressed the continuation
of immigration and the rescue of
refugees and the continuation of
the Youth Aliyah by transporta-
tion to Palestine.
In the sphere of security, relief
of the unemployed, assistance to
the refugees, provision for immi-
gration assistance, local economy
and the acquisition of land, the
program of the Jewish Agency is
circumscribed only by the funds
at its disposal, the World Zionist
leader declared.
• In his review Dr. Weizmann re-
ferred to the efforts being made
to secure favorable action from
the government for the mobiliza-
tion of all Jewish resources in
Palestine and elsewhere, and to
form a Jewish army to stand side

on the provision of then necessary
