Total Subscriptions of $725,000 Are
Expected in Allied Drive by Butzel

"The figures for our Allied Jewish Campaign, at this
moment," stated Fred M. Butzel, chairman of the 1940
drive, on Wednesday, "foretell a subscriptions of $725,000 by
the end of thi s week, and our workers will be out in the
field cleaning up for several weeks to come. Hundreds of
dollars are still being brought or sent daily into the Jewish
Welfare Federation office at 51 W. Warren' Ave., where
Allied Jewish Campaign headquarters have been established.
"Compared to the rest of the country Detroit has made
at least a reasonable showing and we all know at what a
cost in effort and strain this was done," continued Mr.
Butzel. "Words of appreciation from any officers in the
Campaign, or vice versa, are almost prexumptuous because
in no campaign, in my experience, has there been such a
complete devotion to a cause.
"In a world at war, our army of solicitors served as
a constructive force, and we are all better persons for h aving
participated in this great brotherly undertaking."
