LONDON. — (WNS) — The
fate of more than 267,000 Jews,
including 45,000 Jewish refugees
from Greater Germany, hung in
the balance as Belgium and Hol-
land, supported by Allied air-
planes and troops, dug in to re-
sist the Nazi invasion,
At least 3,000 Jews, including
several hundred refugees from
Nazi Germany, fell into the
hands of the Nazis when the
German Army swept into Luxem-
burg, which has a standing army
of TOO.
A few hours after the Nazi
troops crossed the Belgium fron-
tier, the Belgian Government or-
dered the release of 18,000 Ger-
man Jewish refugees, who had
been interned in concentration
camps, and announced that the
refugees would be permitted to
fight against the invaders. Many
of the refugees immediately vol-
unteered for active duty.
