proximately 1,000,000 Poles and
220,000 Jews have been trans-
ported from Nazi-occupied Poland
to the interior of German to
work as slaves, since the Nazi
invasion of Poland, it was re-
liably reported here.
Trains crowded with Poles and
Jews arrive in Berlin daily, each
debarking its miserable cargo of
slaves. Polish and Jewish slaves
are easily distinguishable, the
Jews wearing yellow patches on
their backs while the Poles have
red crosses sewed to the clothes.
As soon as the trains arrive in
Germany, the slaves are herded
into groups of 20, closely guarded
by Nazi Storm Troopers, and
sent to various parts of Germany.
The report stated that the Poles
and Jews are kept apart as much
as possible, each group sleeping
in separate quarters.
Dr. Stephen S. Wise will be
the principal guest speaker at
the opening session of the 30th
annual convention of the Jewish
National Workers' Alliance of
America (Farband), to be held
at the Cass High School audi-
torium at 2:30 p. m. on Thurs-
day, May 30 (Memorial Day).
The convention will continue
through June 30, at Hotel Stat-
ler.
Wide interest is being dis-
played in the forthcoming ses-
sions of the Farband here, in
view of the important problems
affecting American and world
Jewry to be discussed at the
sessions.
