sectarian magazine for demo-
cratic rights, will make its De-
troit debut at an "Equality
Comes to Detroit" party on Sun-
day evening, May 12.
The party will be held at 2750
Oakman Court. Chairman of the

Equality promotes tolerance,
democracy, cooperation among
faiths, the cause of labor; op-
poses bigotry, anti-Semitism, the
enemies of democratic rights.
"Equality was circulated in
Detroit for a brief period last
summer, but withdrew under the
combined pressure of official in-
terference and an iron pipe in
the hands of a Coughlinite,"
states the Detroit circulation
manager, Calvin Goodman.

hold its fifth annual Mother and
Daughter banquet on Wednes-
day, May 8, at 6:30 p. m., at the
Wilshire Hotel, Collingwood and
Third.
Mrs. Israel Burnstein, chair-
man, and Mrs. Abe Shanbom, co-
chairman, have prepared an in-
teresting program of entertain-
ment. Mrs. Joshua S. Sperka will
deliver the invocation. Miss Flor-
ence Weintraub will present a
program of recitations in English
and Yiddish, accompanying her-
self on the piano. Mrs. Sam Lich-
tenstein will speak in the name
of the mothers, and Miss Harriett

will be a number of prizes.
