Dvora Lapson Invited
by Mexican Govern-
ment to Teach

MEXICO CITY. — Dvora Lap-
son, American Jewish dancer and
mime, now on her second Cen-
tral American concert tour, is
engaged in fulfilling the most
phenomenal task ever offered a
Jewish dancer. The Ministry of
Fine Arts of the Mexican Gov-
ernment has invited Miss Lap-
son to give a series of courses
in Hebraic ritual and folkloric
(lances at the Mexican National
School of the Dance (Escuela
Nacional de Danza) at the Pal-
ace of Fine Arts (Palacio de
Hellas Artes), Mexico City.
From Mexico, Miss Lapson re-
turns to Cuba for a second ser-

ies of appearances this season,
including a recital under the aus-
pices of the Cuban Federal Gov-
ernment at the Havana Amphi-
theatre, where she will be ac-
companied by an orchestra which
has been especially granted her
by the Cuban Government.
While in Cuba, Dvora Lap-
son will also give a program of
her Jewish repertoire at the
colony of German Jewish refu-
gees under the auspices of the
Cuban refugee administration.
Miss Lapson will be back in
New York in time for her Broad-
way recital, April 14.

A new Viennese refugee revue
is being readied for Broadway,
with Ezra Stone (who's not a
refugee, but the star of the stage
version of "What a Life") as
its director.

British Anti-Semites Paint Epi-
thets on Walls of Jewish
Cemetery
LEEDS, England (W N S)—
Members of an anti-Semitic, pro-
Nazi organization defaced the
walls of the Gildersome Jewish
cemetery here with epithets print-
ed in letters a yard high. The
vandals painted on the walls an
inscription reading: "All Jews, all
dead, thank God!" The anti-Sem-
ites left their signature, "P. J."
meaning "Perish Judah."

Conference Aims
To Defeat Bills
Aimed at Aliens

"A conference to work for
the defeat of anti-alien bills now
before Congress will be held on
Monday, May 6, at 8 p. m., at
51 Sproat St.," the Reverend
Owen A. Knox, president of the
Civil Rights Federation, an-
nounced. "The conference will
be held under the auspices of the
Federation."
"Seventy-four bills aimed at
deportation, detention, or regis-
tration of aliens are now in Con-
gress," the Reverend Knox
pointed out. "Some of these bills,
which would unfairly victimize
America's non-citizen population,
would also prove a direct threat
to the civil rights of citizens as
well."
"Although the major emphasis
of the conference will be to stop
these anti-alien bills, support of
bills facilitating naturalization
will also be discussed. The facts
relative to the practice of firing
non-citizens in industry will also
be presented. A program of ac-
tion covering these several points
will be worked out," the Rev-
erend Knox stated.
All organizations are invited to
send as many delegates as pos-
sible, the call states. Registration
is free, and individuals are in-
vited to attend.

S. J. Leve Honored
By Writers Guild

Samuel J. Leve of the Bu-
reau of Investigation of the
Wayne County Auditors, was
highly honored by the Writers'
Guild who published a poem prais-
ing him for his numerous acts of
kindness. Under the title "The
Prince of Friendship Street," the
poem, written by Robert L. Crin-
nian, follows:

There's a pathway worn by
countless feet
Straight to his office door,
Where you'll find the Prince of
Friendship Street
Then you'll shake his hand once

more.

All tolerance springs from
sympathy
I was told that years before,
That's why I always want to trod
The rug on Sam Leve's floor.

Now fate has dealt most kindly
With Sam, my friend of old
Though his hair's not thatched
with silver
Time, has woven his heart of
gold.

He gives ear to tales of pity
That he's heard many times
before,
But he treats with benign
benevolence
All who enter his office door.

He lends sympathy to the worried
When misfortune takes her toll,
Or lauds some big-shot's boasting
Of success toward life's goal.

He is always on hand to cheer
you
Be it morning, noon or night,
With a smile that brightens
shadows
And his heart fires burning
bright.

So now you know—why you must
again
Drop in just to greet,
Your dear old friend of long ago
THE PRINCE OF FRIENDSHIP
STREET.
