Give to Mo'os Chitim Fund

There are many families who depend
upon the Mo'os Chitim Fund for provi-
sions with which to observe the Passover
festival. In view of the fact that only a
comparatively small sum is needed to pro-
vide for needy for Passover, it is impor-
tant that the necessary money should
come without pressure. If those who have
the means and are assured of a Passover
of plenty were only to give a little
for those who do not possess such neces-
sities, it would not be necessary to plead
too much for this fund. It would be a
disgrace if a community like Detroit could
not care for the needy families for the
approaching holiday. Such a disgrace can
and must be averted. Let those who have
the means give for this fund at once, so
that the amount needed may be raised at
least a week in advance of Passover.

The Christian Front

Government, but he also bluntly drags
in a Jewish issue, under the cloak of
Communism. His vulgar outburst is one
of the most dastardly ever heard in Con-
gress, and it ties up conclusively with the
effort to revive the activities of the Chris-
tian Front in New York.
Democracy and the freedom of man is
being challenged in the high places of our
Government. Let the lovers of liberty
remember the admonition that eternal
vigilance is needed to protect our free-
dom. No one dares fall asleep on the job
of protecting our form of government as
long as the Pelleys and the Winrods and
the Thorkelsons and the Christian Front
continue to preach hate.

The Late Cyrus Adler

American Jewry sits in mourning over
one of its outstanding leaders.
The death of Dr. Cyrus Adler removes
from the scene of Jewish activity a man
who has helped shape the destiny of our
people during the past quarter of a cen-
tury.
As president of the Jewish Theological
Seminary of New York and of Dropsie
College of Philadelphia, he rose to great
heights as a leader in the cultural and
religious life of our people. As the presi-
dent of the American Jewish Committee
he was in a key position in the fight for
Jewish rights. In addition, he was one of
the outstanding figures in the work for
the American Jewish Joint Distribution
Committee which provides relief for Eu-
ropean sufferers, and he has been active
in practically every movement of im-
portance in Jewish life, including the Jew-
ish Agency for Palestine.
'Three months ago, Dr. Adler was ac-
corded a great honor when he was se-
lected by President Roosevelt to represent
the Jewish people in his interdenomina-
tional call for peace. The recognition thus
accorded him was a mark of distinction
that indicated the esteem in which he
is held by Christians as well as Jews.
Dr. Adler was a deeply religious man,
and his faith dominated his American and
Jewish loyalties. He was a great American
and a great Jew. His death is a loss to
world Jewry whose plight he sought to
relieve whenever and wherever tragedy
was inflicted upon them.

Disregarding action by the Federal Bu-
reau of Investigation to press charges
against the 17 anti-Semites who have
been plotting the overthrow of the
United States Government under the ban-
ner of the Christian Front, leaders of this
movement have stated that they are pre-
pared to renew their program of holding
street meetings in New York during the
