Statement by Newman

"Those in the highest brack-
etc," said Mr. Newman, "will be
solicited by members of the pre-
campaign divisiop, headed by
Sidney J. Allen and Nate S.
Shapero. Louis C. Blumberg will
serve as secretary of this special
gifts set-up, and the workers are
divided into four teams as fol-
lows: Team (1), Abe Srere and
Monte D. Wittelshofer, chair-
men; Team (2), Clarence H.
Enggass and David Wilkus,
chairmen; Team (3), Hyman C.
Broder, Abraham Cooper and
Fred A. Ginsburg, chairmen;
Team (4), Harry Frank and
Harry S. Grant, chairmen.
•"Although the pre-campaign
division works as a separate en-
tity," continued Mr. Newman,
"the Executive Committee is a
part of the Trade Council of
the campaign, whose solicitors
will canvass the entire city dur-
ing the campaign proper for sub-
scriptions to the drive. Under
the guidance of Trade Council
leaders, the prospects are as-
signed to solicitors, within the
various campaign divisions, ac-
cording to their trades and pro-
fessons.
"This year the Trade Council
will be headed by two of our
most experienced and able cam-
paigners, Irving W. Blumberg
and George M. Stutz. Working
with them, on a Committee of
Eight, will be Maurice A. Eng-
gass, Julian H. Krolilk, Samuel
H. Rubiner, Melville S. Welt, in
addition to Simon Shetzer and
myself. The organizations divi-
sion, which collects group pledges,
functions under the aegis of the
Trade Council also, as does the
the Junior Division, composed of
young men and women from 16
to 30 years of age, whose mem-
bers will contact the 10,000
younger members of Detroit's
Jewish community.
"The work of all the divisions
within the campaign set-up, Pre-
Campaign, Executive Committee
and Trade Council," concluded
Mr. Newman, "is coordinated un-
der the direction of Fred M.
Butzel, general chairman of the
drive."

Organization Division

Prospect slips will be assigned
to all captains of the organiza-
tional division of the 1940 Allied
Jewish Campaign, at a meeting to
be held Sunday morning, April
14, at 10:30 o'clock, at the Jew-
ish Children's Home, Petoskey
and Burlingame Ayes. Important
instructions will be given and
worker's materials will be dis-
tributed on this occasion.
In the opinion of Myron A.
Keys and Joseph Bernstein, the
division's chairmen, the Sunday
morning meeting is, in many re-
spects, the key to the success of
the entire organizational divi-
sion. Fred M. Butzel, general
chairman of the 1940 Allied Jew-
ish Campaign, also stresses the
necessity of getting off to a
good start and urges all captains
to attend this important session.
