Eminent Christian
Exposes Coughlin

"The Ghost of Royal
Oak" Is Condemned
by Rev. Kernan

Father Coughlin's activities
over the air during the past 17
months are subjected to close
scrutiny and severe condemna-
tion by an eminent Christian
minister—Father William Charles
Kernan of the Trinity Episcopal
Church of Bayonne, N. J.—in a
book which he appropriately
labels "The Ghost of Royal Oak,"
which has been issued by the
Free Speech Forum of 117 W.
46th St., New York, under whose
auspices he has been defending
democratic ideals in radio ad-
dresses.
"The Ghost of Royal Oak"
contains the edited texts of
Father Kernan's radio speeches.
They debunk not only the ad-
dresses of the Royal Oak priest
but also the work of pro-Nazi
groups in this country and of the
Christian Front.
An effective speaker who has
also been heard on public plat-
forms in numerous cities through-
out the country, Father Kernan's
speeches are effective, to the
point and convincing.
Illustrated by Lee, "The Ghost
of Royal Oak" shows that the
anti-Semites — Coughlin, Pelley,
Kuhn, Mosley, McWilliams —
dance to the same tune—a big-
oted and intolerant program of
un-Americanism.
The Communist-Nazi combine
comes in for severe criticism in
this splendid book. Also, there
is defense of the refugee and
the efforts to help the unfor-
tunates.
Naturally, Coughlin's Social
Justice and the ghost writer, Ben
Marcin come in for a due share
of repudiation.
Father Kernan has made a
definite contribution to the effort
to uproot the poison of anti-
Semitism thorugh "The Ghost of
Royal Oak."
