The study of the holidays occu-
pies a prominent place in the
curriculum of the United He-
brew Schools. Several weeks be-
fore each holiday much time is
devoted in all the classrooms to
a detailed study of the holiday,
its origin, its development, the
various customs centered around
the holiday, and the manner in
which it is being observed.
At the present time it is the
holiday Purim, which will take
place this year on Sunday,
March 24, around which the
studies are centered. In the lower
classes the story of the holiday
is being studied in the abridged
form, while in the higher classes,
the entire Book of Esther is be-
ing read and interpreted.
