TEL AVIV.—(Palcor Agency)
—Poignant scenes were wit-
nessed at Tel Aviv port recently
when hundreds of families came
to meet returning relatives or
kinsfolk who were coming from
aboard on escaping the Nazi in-
ferno. Outside the office of the
Immigration Department of the
Jewish Agency Executive, in the
Tel Aviv port area, one of the
staff read aloud a list of the per-
sons coming from Warsaw, Lodz,
other parts of Poland, and Ger-
many, including eighty children
saved by the Vaad Leumi Youth
Aliyah campaign.
As the names were called out
alphabetically, cries of joy and
weeping came from the assembled
crowd as they recognized rela-
tives they had never expected
to see again in this life.
