KAUNAS. (WNS)—The re-
turn of a large part of the goods
stolen by peasant guides from
refugees attempting to cross the
Russian border was attributed
to the "cherem" (excommunica-
tion) proclaimed by Luthuanian
rabbis against Jewish purchasers
of those goods. The cherem was
proclaimed following an epidemic
of such robberies by guides who
sold their booty to Jewish mer-
chants in the frontier town of
Fisziscki.
Meanwhile, three organizations
have established a fund of 200,
000 lits to provide relief for the
Polish refugees. The organiza-
tions are the Joint Distribution
Committee, which contributed
100,00 lits, the Polish Relief Fund
of England, 50,000 lits, and a
local relief organization, 50,000

Editor, Detroit Jewish Chronicle:
As I leave Detroit after having

Red Paper Brands Zionist Leaders
"Agents of the City of London"
MOSCOW. (WNS) — Zionist
leaders were branded "agents of
the City of London" in an article
published this week by Trud, of-
ficial newspaper of the Central
Trade Union. The British ad-
minist•ation in Palestine was de-
scribed as "one of the ugliest cre-
ations of the Versailles Treaty."
The article declared that "Pal-
estine's Jewish working popula-
tion was united with the indus-
trious Arabs against imperialist
war and its fomentors. Jewish
workers and peasants know that
British imperialism intends to use
them for canon fodder."
The Red organ termed Pales-
tine "the home of disorders and
riots." "The Arabs cannot un-
derstand," the paper continued,
"why they have to leave places
in which they have been living
for centuries in favor of the
Zionist newcomers."
