organization was discontinued re-
cently.
Miss Gert completed her grad-
uate study at the University of
Michigan in the field of social
work and sociology with honors
at the age of 20. Se has spoken
frequently to various Detroit
woolen's organizations, interpret-
ing the field of social work and
the functions of the Juvenile
Court. Her avocation is writing,
and while attending the univer-
sity she won two short story
contests and a state-wide essay
contest sponsored by the Daugh-
ters of the American Revolution.
Since Judge IIealy's adminis-
tration there has been placed par-
ticular emphasis on the work of
the Wayne County Clinic for
child study, whose purpose is the
handling of cases that have failed
under the usual methods of treat-
ment. This is a mental hygiene
clinic which not only diagnoses,
but which treats cases. In connec-
tion with the mental clinic there
is an endocrine clinic, and this
is one of the few clinics in this
country that has this advantage.
Children are referred to this
clinic by the court, private agen-
cies, and many school systems
outside Detroit which have no
clinics of their own. Approxi- Variety Show and Dance of
