under Dudley Buck, one of Amer-
ica's outstanding organists. He
continued his studies at Columbia
University and later at various
music centers in Europe. His first
professional engagement was as
organist in a synagogue at
Brooklyn. Thereafter he played
in a number of Christian churches
and later became Professor of
music at Beloit (Wisconsin) Col-
lege. From Beloit he came to
Detroit to assume his position
with Temple Beth El, which he
held to the time of his death.
He was one of the founders
of the American Guild of Organ-
ists and a member of many local
and national music organizations.
He had won considerable fame as
a composer of church and secular
music, among his compositions be-
ing a Sabbath Service for the
synagogue.

Group Observes
Fifth Anniversary

The Infants Service Group will
celebrate its fifth anniversary on
Jan. 21, at Sak's on Woodward
Ave., with a dinner dance for
members and their husbands at
7 o'clock. Mrs, Jean Friedman is
chairman of the affair and reser-
vations are being taken by Mrs.

The work of this group consists
of taking care of infants from
the time they are brought home
from the hospital. They are fur-
nished milk, special formulas,
canned foods, and all other neces-
sities including medical care.
