seat 250 people, suitable for
meetings of communal groups, a
handsome GO by 20 foot swim-

Jewish Youth Views Future

Eretz Israel before he dies,
these epople are finding their
way to Palestine to build again a
homeland. Many of them do not
arrive, but where one falls out
there are two to take his place.
Each year the Aliyah from Amer
ica has grown and "the chain re-
mains unbroken," even by war.
Palestine is not a Utopia. There
is hunger and terrorism. Still we
continue to build and, as time
passes higher and higher, barriers
are overcome and forgotten; and
still the watchword remains, Ka -
lima (march onward).
If the Jewish youth of Amer-
ica really wants to end the Jew-
ish problem, if they aren't afraid
of hard work and strange condi-
tions, if they are willing to sac-
rifice their present physical in-
ertia for peace of the soul, they
have but to look Eastward for
their solution. There they will
see peace for those with strong
arms and brave hearts.

Gus D. Newman, chairman of
the committee in charge of the
Education Dinner, opened the
program, thanked his many co-
workers and introduced Harry
Herschfield as toastmaster. Brief
remarks were delivered by Ber-
nard Isaacs, superintendent of
the United Hebrew Schools, whose
guidance of the local educational
,system was lauded highly by all
speakers. Mrs. Charles Robinson,
president of the Women's Auxili-
ary of the schools, greeted the
gathering and announced a mem-
bership campaign to enlist more
women members. The invocation
was given by Sander Bernstein, a
pupil in the schools.
The musical program consisted
of vocal solos by Cantor J. II.
Sonenklar and selections by the
'symphonic trio consisting of Sam
Jack Kaufman, pianist, Hershel
Leib, violinist, and Sol Leib, 'cell-
, ist. The singing of "The Star

ceedings. Mrs. Abraham Cooper
led in the singing of the two an-
thems.
