Plans for the erection of a new
Hebrew school building are now
being completed and work is ex-
pected to start on the new struc-
ture in the very near future, Louis
Robinson, president of the United
liebrew Schools, announced at
the annual Education Dinner, held
last Sunday evening in the social
hall of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek.
Mr. Robinson informed the 450
guests at the dinner that this
new building will be erected with
the cooperation of the Jewish
Welfare Federation. The new
school, he announced, will be lo-
cated on Lawton near Tyler Ayes.
Need for New Building
Construction of a new school
building in the northwest section
of the city has been urged for a
number of years. A survey con-
ducted four years ago indicated
that there are more than 700
children in that section whose par-
ents would gladly send them to
a Hebrew school provided there
were facilities for them. Leaders
in the United Hebrew Schools
have advocated the construction
of such a building consistently
during these years, and work on
the much-needed building is ex-
pected to start soon.
With Harry Herschfield, emi-
nent cartoonist and humorist, as
guest toastmaster, the speakers
at the dinner urged the continua-
tion of Detroit's education pro-
gram.
A spirit of jollity was inspired
