This course will be made up of lectures on the arts, including the drama, the art of painting, music in its symphonic form, and the art of ancient music. The latter, which will be the subject of the first study meeting, will be given by Miss Gwladis Luloff, eminent authority on ancient music and ancient instruments. Miss Luloff, who studied under Arnold Dal- metsch, builder of ancient instru- ments, and Landowska, famous authority on the art of playing this type of music, will deliver a lecture-recital in the costumes of the times. Miss Luloff will bring with her the Court Virginal, the instrument popular at the time of Queen Elizabeth's court. She will also present a collection of orig- inal music manuscripts, some of which are 400 years old. The lec- ture will begin with old English music of 1550 and progress to the early French music of 1650, then to 1750, the time of Bach, and finally piano music. For the Bach period, Him Luloff will play the well-tempered 'clavicord, present- ing some of Bach's earliest music and the manner in which he taught his pupils to play this music. Guests are invited to attend this lecture at a nominal charge.
