principles of the Bill of Rights
was voiced here on the 150th
anniversary of Congress' enact-
ment of that document, by 67
prominent Americans, both

Declaring that the "times are
fraught with peril," the plea
warned against "those who would
abrogate freedom, create tyranny
through bigotry, and destroy the
basic American concept that all
men are created equal."
