Austrian Leaflet
Ridicules U. S.

A pamphlet widely circulated
in Vienna contains a severe at-
tack on this country and by in-
nuendo ridicules American trade,
incites against purchase of Amer-
ican citrus fruit and sneers at
Americans as "banana-eaters."
This pamphlet was smuggled
out of Austria by way of Switz-
erland. A copy of it was brought
to the office of The Detroit Jew-
ish Chronicle and photostats have
been sent to Washington.

CHICAGO (SVNS) — Assert-
ing that when the Rev. Charles
I E. Coughlin "speaks on public
questions he is Charles Coughlin
and nothing else," John A. Lapp,
a former member and chairman
of the National Bituminous Coal
Labor Board and an arbitrator in
labor disputes, said that the
radio prest is not entitled to
speak as a priest, representing
the Catholic Church, either di-
rectly or by implication, or to
receive any immunities as a
clergyman.
Speaking over Station WHIP,
the same station which had earl-
ier served as the Chicago outlet
(or Father Coughlin's Sunday
broadcast, Mr. Lapp said, "a
man who uses in America as
his own an anti-Semitic speech of
Herr Goebbels deserves the loss
