Mrs. Douglas I. Brown was
elected president of the Detroit
section, National Council of Jew-
ish Women, at the annual meet-
ing of the organization held last
Tuesday at Temple Beth El. Mrs.
Brown succeeds Mrs. Maurice
Klein, who served for two years.
Having participated in almost
every phase of the cultural and
philanthropic life of the city, Mrs.
Brown brings to her office a rich
background of service to the
Council and the community. A no-

daughter of Hortense Heavenrich
and the late Benamin Lambert,
both of whom were born and raised
in Detroit. Upon her graduation
from Vassar, where she was elected

ment Department of the United

ridge. She is a past president of
the Fresh Air Society and the De.

Elizzabeth, Mrs. Brown makes her
