The social hall of the Shaarey
Zedek Synagogue is astir with ex-
citement in preparation for the
Purim carnival sponsored by the
Sisterhood of the congregation.
Mrs. Uathan D. Metzger, chair-
man of the festival, is directing
a crew of 100 captains and
workers who have their respec-
tive jobs well on the way to com-
pletion. Final plans will be dis-
cussed at a dessert luncheon in
the social hall on Monday, Feb.
27, at I o'clock, which will be
attended by all workers, Anyone
not already on a committee and
desirous of assisting at the car-
nival is invited to attend this
luncheon.
The carnival opens Saturday
evening, March 4, with games,
amusements and entertainment.
The following Sunday afternoon
and evening, March 5, there will
be more features and entertain-
ment, with Purim games for the
children in the afternoon. A
magic fish pond, a doll booth,
flower booth, Palestinian booth,
and fortune telling are a few of
the highlights.
Supper will be served to all
from 6 to 9 o'clock Sunday eve-
ning, with specially prepared
dishes for chhildren. A leading
Detroit orchestra will furnish the
music for dancing in the evening.

The annual convention of the
Junior Hadassah Central States
Regional will be held in Toledo
on Saturday and Sunday, March
11 and 12. Activities will be cen-
tered at the Commodore Perry
Hotel. An Oneg Shabat will be
featured on Saturday afternoon,
and a round table discussion will
hold away in the evening. Sunday
afternoon will be taken up with
a luncheon to be followed later

Neugarten Sunshine Club will be

Although it is still a compara-
tively young organization, the
Junior Section has already en-
tered into various activities.
Among its chief objectives is
participation in the Allied Jewish
Campaign. Toward this end, the
organization has already begun
planning for the drive. In addition
its members have been working
on many committees, displaying
their talents In dramatics, speak,

Celebrates 23rd Anniversary
The Western Ladies Aid Sod-
ety held a banquet at Lachar's,
Feb. 19, in commemoration of its
23rd anniversary. '
A coincidence of the affair was
the 22nd wedding anniversary of
the secretary, Mrs. Abe Epstein.
A wedding march was playea in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Epstein
while Mrs. Epstein lit the 22nd
candle.
Masters of ceremonies were
Mrs. Anna Keller and Max Fen-
kel. Brief speeches were made
by Mrs. Goose • Mrs. Dora Fenksl
and Mrs. Nathan Hornstein.
The dinner was followed by

char, national director of Hillel
Foundations, at the monthly
meeting on Monday, March 6,
at 2 o'clock, at Temple Beth El.
Dr. Sachar, noted as historian,
lecturer and writer, will discuss
"Current World Problems."
Detroit Council has heard Dr.
Sachar for the past two years.
He has been chosen as favorite
lecturer by the Sinai Forum of
Chicago where 2,300 patrons
voted him their best speaker.
Admission to Dr. Sachar's lec-
ture will be by membership card
only.
Congregation Bnai Zion
Celebrates 14th Anniversary
The 14th anniversary of Con-
gregation Bnai Zion, 3841 Hum-
phrey, was celebrated at a ban-
quet, Sunday evening, Feb. 19.
There was a large attendance of
members and friends. The cele-
bration was opened by B. Cohen,
vice-president, who introduced the
president, I. Sosnick, toastmaster
of the evening.
S. Gottlieb entertained the at-
tendance with songs.
The speakers were Rabbi I.
Stollman, Rabbi J. Rabinovitz,
Rabbi E. Levin, the instructor of
rhevra shim, I. Ism, Mr. Nachman,
Mr. Teitelbaum, Mr. Fishell and
Mrs. Glassman, president of the
Ladies' Auxiliary. A dance fol-
lowed the banquet.
