Mexican Assurances
on Jewish Situation

The Mexican Ambassador to
the United States, Francisco
Castillo Najera, in two mes-
sages addressed to the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress, offers as-
surances that the Mexican Gov-
ernment is opposed to racial-
ism and is taking every step
to apprehend those responsible
for the riots which took place
in Mexico City on Jan. 26.
These assurances were received
after the American Jewish
Congress had telegraphed to
him to express the profound
concern of the Congress over
the attacks in Mexico City In
which stores were mobbed and
wrecked by 3,000 persons. The
riots were believed to be the
first of their kind on the
American continent.
