French Government Gives
Library to Hebrew
University

The French Government has
presented the Hebrew University
with a valuable library of some
3000 books for the department of
French Civilization recently open-
ed at the Hebrew University un-
der the grant made by the French
Government last year for a
French Chair.
The scope of study under the

Chair will include the language,
literature, art, philosophy and
history of France. It will be the
first time in history that French
culture will be interpreted at a
smiy:r.sity through the medium of
the Hebrew language.
Eliezar Ben Yehuda, the "fath-
er of modern Hebrew," was eulo-
gised in a radio broadcast by
members of the faculty of the
Hebrew University on the 16th

anniversary of his death.
