22nd ANNUAL BALL

N.H.J.C. Paid-Up
Luncheon Jan. 18

LATE JOEL L. KAPETANSKY

He was signally honored by being
allowed to take the bar examina-
tion for lawyers, a privilege which
very few Jews accorded in the
Rus.sia of those days, and he was
enabled to practice law.
When he emigrated in 1913 to
the United States, he came to De-
troit because his son, Louis, had
already established himself there.
For several years he was en-
gaged in the printing business
with his son-in-law, Mac Kalman.
Since his retirement from active
employment in 1929, he had been
associated with his son, Abraham
J. Kapetansky, M. D., at the lat-
ter's offices at 1726 Clairmount.
Mr. Kapetansky lost his wife,
Sarah Leah, in 1930.
Ile was a member of Congrega-
tion Emanuel and was a generous
contributor to charities.
He is survived by seven sons—
Louis Max (of Los Angeles,
Calif.), Herman, Maurice (also
of Los Angeles), Ben, Dr. Abra-
ham, Dr. Nathan—and two daugh-
ters—Mrs. Katherine Kalman, and
Clara. Sixteen grandchildren also
survive.
