FRANCES McCOY AT THE POWATAN

Priest Sees Racism as Fos of All
International Ortanisatioas

TROY, N. Y. (Religious News
Service) — Characterizing "rac-
ism" as one of democracy's worst
foes, the Rev. William M. Slavin,
in his "Current Events" course
at the Catholic School of Social
Science, in Catholic Central High
School here, cautioned his listen-
ers against believing or advocat-
ing such a philosophy,
"Racism is not only anti-
Semitic, but anti-Catholic, anti-
Masonic, anti-Protestant and op-
posed to any organization or
church that has an International
status," Father Slavin declared.
He blamed much of the present
racial attitude evinced by Adolf
Hitler on Alfred Rosenberg,
close adviser of the German dic-
tator.

Here is an interesting viewpoint,
and one of the rare occasions when
these converts are defended by
Jews. The argument in their de-
tense is rather weak, but it does
repreetnt an important viewpoint,
since the conversion of Benjamin
Disraeli and the question of wheth-
er or not he should be recognized
as a Jew has similarly been a sub-
ject for dispute.
On the whole Bertha Meyer's
book makes good and interesting
reading and throws light on the
period under discussion.
