Secure Fund in Honor of Great
Woman Leader

A movement to honor Miss Henrietta Scold, great woman
leader who is now in Palestine as • member of the World
Zionist Executive and who was the founder of Hudassah, on
her birthday, Dec. 21, the fifth day of Chanukah, was in-
augurated by Detroit chapter of H•dassah. This a part of
a national effort in which Hadassah chapters throughout the
country will participate.

The unique method of observing Miss Scold's birthday
is to encourage Jewish families to have one-dish meals on

paign were made following con-
sultation with Rabbi Ephraim
Epstein of Chicago and Rabbi
Mordecai Burstein of Kansas
City, who were guests in Detroit.
During their stay here, Rabbi
Epstein spoke in Mishkan Israel
and Beth Tfilo Emanuel Syna-
gogues and Rabbi Burstein spoke
in the Bnai Zion Synagogue.
Both addressed the Mizrachi Mlave
Malke last Saturday evening.
Rabbi Saul Silber is the presi-
dent of the Hebrew Theological
College which is now observing
dedication week on the occasion
of the completion of the new
$250,000 library building of the
Hebrew Theological College. The
large impressive edifice in neo-
Gothic style was officially opened
with services at Congregation
Encases Israel, 3411 Douglas
Blvd., Chicago, at 2 p. m. last
Sunday. The guest speaker for
the dedication was the famed
educator, Dr. Walter Dill Scott,
president of Northwestern Uni-
versity.

Conclave Dec. 26 to 28

An outstanding feature of the
A. Z. A. Great Lakes Regional
convention to be held in Detroit,
Dec. 26 to 28, is the crowning of
a beauty queen to represent De-
troit A. Z. A. for 1938. Selections
will be taken from young Jewish
women between the ages of 15-21.
