The new-old land has come to be known as the children's paradise, since the new generation is growing up in a modern environment sur- rounded by the most advanced educational and health facilities. The sunshine baby cots in the colony of Naaneh are characteristic of the modern equipment for children in Palestine. Education and health work in Palestine is maintained largely through. the aid of the Palestine Foundation Fund which is combined with the Jewish National Fund in the United Palestine Appeal for 1938 in a nation- wide campaign for $4,500,000 for the settlement in Palestine of a maximum number of Jews from Poland, Germany and other lands. Mt. Sinai League Aids Ball Oct. 8 The League of Mt. Sinai Hos- pital Association held an open meeting Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Statler Hotel. Tentative plans for the year were discussed by the president, Mrs. Jack Rom. Sirs. J. Soloman, chairman of the social committee, announced the work that was being done by the group for the grand ball to be given by the Mt. Pierrot, director. Commencing with the lecture at 3:30 p. m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, by Capt. Irving Johnson on "Around the World Again in the Schooner Yankee," the series will include addresses by Julien Bry- an and Dr. Louis K. Anspacher. Bryan will speak on Dec. 11, afternoon and evening. At 3:30 p. m. he will speak on "Inside Nazi Germany" and will show the film by this title. At 8:30 9. ni. he will speak on "Soviet Russia in 1938," which will also he illustrated by moving pictures.
