Julien Bryan to Give Illustrated

Lecture on What 1. Happen-

ing "Inside Naai Germany"

A farewell look at Soviet Rus-

sia and the only up-to-date motion
picture story of what is happen-
ing "Inside Nazi Germany" will
be illustrated subjects of Julien
Bryan, explorer and roving pho-
tographer for the "March of
Time" on the World Adventure
Series Fall program of Sunday
afternoon motion picture lectures
to begin Oct. 9 at the Detroit
Institute of Arts. Ticket sale for
these low - admission, non - profit
pubic lectures has begun at the
Museum. For a free illustrated
folder describing the course in de-
tail address the World Adenture
Series, Detroit Institute of Arts.
Bryan brings new motion pic-
tures to illustrate his "Soviet Rus-
sia in 1938." He will take his
audence to the farms and cities,
looking at industry, housing, edu-
cation, recreation. He will answer
such questions as: Is it true that
Russia is adopting capitalistic
methods? What is the meaning of
the purges? Is the Stalin regime
in danger? Is the living standard
rising? Are the peasants con-
tented? Will Russia fight Ger-
many or Japan? Bryan does not
plan to return to Russia for a
long time, so this will be Detroit's
last chance for a comprehensive
motion picture story and an un-
biased interpretation of the great-
eat social experiment in the his-
tory of the world.
The series also announces a
special course of four evening lec-
tures on "Psychic Phenomena" by
the famous New York philoso-
pher, dramatist and author, Dr.
Louis K. Anspacher.
Other World Adventure Fall
lectures explores the realms of
travel and science. Carveth Wells,
eminent British explorer, brings
new motion pictures to illustrate
his travelogue "Bermuda in Three
Colors." Fred Payne Clatworthy
summarizes 15 years of travel
with his gorgeous "Through Mex-
ico With a Color Camera." Joseph
Tilton, pho pushed through the
Malayan ungle elephant-back to
the headquarters of the Perak
River, where he built two big
rafts and floated 250 miles
through unknown country to the
Indian Ocean, presents startling
motion pictures of this banner
expedition of 1938. Dr. Raymond
L. Ditmars, famed New York
Zoo curator and author, speaks on
"Wild Animals and Their Ways,"
with exclusive motion pictures.
Harrison Forman, explorer and
"March of Time" photographer,
will return to illustrate his "China
Against Japan the Far East
Aflame."
The opening subject, on Oct. 9,
is "Around the World Again in
the Schooner Yankee." Young
Captain Irving Johnson is just
home from an 18-month cruise
around the world in his 92-foot
sailing ship. The World Adven-
ture Series will be the first Audi-
en e to see his new motion pm-
t4es in full color.
