ning will be Rabbi Nahum Schul-
man of Congregation Shaer Hash-

graduate of the Chicago Theolo-
gical Seminary and is an author-

Public Evening Schools to
Open Monday

Detroit's public evening schools
for adults open in 21 schools on
Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p. m. En-
rollingstts will be accepted during
the evenings of Monday and Tues-
day. The term will last 12 weeks.
The elementary courses, English
for the foreign-born, and citizen-
ship will again be offered to the
public without charge in all
schools. All the usual academic.
technical, commercial and health
courses will be offered in the high
school and technical division. A
charge of $2.50 per course will
be made for the term for most
secondary courses. Fees for
health courses will be $2. Do-
mestic courses for housewives will
carry
rrya charge of only 50 cents
for the term.
Circulars listing courses may be
had now. at any public school or
public library, or at 1354 Broad-
way. The list of schools where
evening work is offered follows:
Cam, Central, Chadsey, Cooley,
Eastern, High School of Com-
merce, Mille r, Northeastern,
Northern, Northwestern, Persh-
ing, Redford, Southeastern. South-
western, Wstern, Wilbur Wright,
Burroughs, Davison, Garfield, Lin-
coln and Robinson.

Max Factor Dead

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.
(WNSI—Max Factor, the man
who "made" a thousand Holly-
wood faces 'and who once curled
and waxed the mustaches of the
Russian Czar, is dead, and Holly-
wood is in mourning. for his
make-up genius had been a major
factor in correcting the facial im-
perfections of many screen stars
so that they would appear facially
perfect on the screen. Born in
Lodz 61 years ago, Factor was
apprenticed to a wig-maker. After
several years with minor road
companies, he became make-up
adviser to the artists of the Rus-
sian Grand Opera and to the im-
rieriall Russian family in 189 2 .
Until he left for the United
States in 1903 he attended the
Romanoffs, curling and waxing
their mustaches and beards and
creating hair and rouge styles for
the ladies of the court.
He introduced his ideas on cos-
metics at the St. Louis World
Fair in 1903. Five years later
he moved to Los Angeles where
he became interested in the Pe-
culiar make-up problems of the
movies. Since 1912 he had been
the leading film cosmetician.
