The 1938 Michigan State Fair
is not only going to be "bigger
and better" than the state has
ever enjoyed, but, it is the am-
bition of Frank V. Isbey, general
manager, to make it the "Nation's
Greatest State Fair." That is the
slogan that has been adopted and
every member of the executive
staff is bending all efforts to see
that this goal is achieved.
There will be more stars of the
stage, screen and radio; more free
attractions; more brass bands;
more outstanding features of an
educational nature; and more
facilities for the general comfort
of visitor, than ever before at
any Michigan Fair.
A visitor gate of 800,000 to
1,000,000 persons is expected this
year.
Five of radio's greatest.. hands
are to be heard at the Fair. They
are: Rudy Vallee and his "Con-
necticut Yankees" with Caryl
Goul d, Chic Kennedy, Edna
Strong, and The Gentlemen Song-
sters; Benny Goodman, "The King
of Swing", and his orchestra with
Martha Tilton, Lionel Hampton,
Jess Stacy, Teddy Wilson, Harry
James, and Dave Tough; Buddy
Rogers and his Hollywoodites with
Jack "Screwy" Douglas, and Bob
Hannon; Guy Lombardo and his
Royal Canadians including Car-
men, Victor and Lebert Lombardo
and the Lombardo Trio; and Kay
Kyser and his "Kollege of Mu-
sical Knowledge" with Virginia
Simms, Harry Babbitt, " I s h
Kabibble" and Sully Mason.

United States, to be held here
Sept. 2 to 5, Aaron Cohen, 8
years-old Columbus pianist, will
be guest artist, at the banquet
which will be held at the Masonic
Temple.
Aaron, the son of Mrs. Sallie
B. Cohen of Columbus, formerly
of Detroit, has begun his musical
career at the early age of 3,
and won first prize in the state-
wide piano contest sponsored by
the Ohio Federation of Music
Clubs at the age of 4. Not only
has Aaron that musical rarity
known as "absolute pitch," but his
piano improvising has obviated
the necessity of purchasing sheet
music at Roosevelt Junior High
School in Columbus, where he is
a student. The dexterity with
which he manipulates his twink-
ling. tiny fingers across the key-
board has amazed some of the
best music critics in Ohio and has
led many to brand him as truly
"a child prodigy."
Aaron was given a private au-
dition by Dave Rubinoff, who no-
tified Eddie Cantor of his Colum-
bus find and when final arrange-
ments will be completed, little
Aaron will be taken to Columbia's
West Coast Studio, for an ap-
pearance on the Cantor Radio
Hour.
