He told the interviewer that his books were among those ordered burned, and when the newspaperman asked him whether ■ he was, by chance, a Jew himself, he answered in the affirmative. Since that time Freuchen has let himself be heard on numer- ous occasions in condemnation of ■ Hitlerite persecutions, and it has recently become known that he had resigned from the Rotary on account of anti-Jewish discrimi- nations in Germany. In his latest book, "It's All Adventure," which was just published by Farrar and Rinehart, New York, Mr. Freuchen explains the events that led up to his resignation. Describing his visit to Berlin in 1929, Mr. Freuchen writes: • i dle Inay In Berlin thin time NEW DEPOT:6 LIVERNOIS AT DAVISON Real Vacation the Ina...ration of the local Rota'', lob took Mare. He is a "powerful person, full of wit, always bubbling over with joy of living and adventuring. At the same time he is a most human being who feels outraged by every manifestation of injus- tice. His "It's All Adventure" is a document that reveals the character of the man and the manner in which he finds adven- ture in everything he does. This book is a follow-up to his earlier work "Arctic Adventure." It leads up to the year 1932. His true reactions to Nazism and to the reaction that is sweeping the world today will undoubtedly be found in his next book, in which he will describe his adventure from 1932 on. Like its predeces- sors, the next book should prove important as a commentary on world affairs, and especially as an expression of his own condemna- tion of the Hitlerite menace. Jews Disfranchised in Danzig on Eve of Election DANZIG. (WNS)—Jews hove been disfranchised in the Free City of Danzig in anticipation of an early parliamentary election intended to serve ar a plebiscite. The election campaign is being made the occasion for a renewed anti-Jewish drive. Wealthy Jews are being arrested and forced to part with their property and busi- ness on trumped-up charges of "tax frauds." Many important Jewish industrial establishments have already been confiscated. One firm, Baus & Co., was fined 1,250,000 guilders. Three part- ners were imprisoned until they could raise the fine, while a fourth, Herr Paskel, committed suicide. The Rumanian observer at the Evian refugee parley was a well- known anti-Semite who had been a member of the late Goga-Cuta cabinet .. . The Nazis, too, had an ,agent there.
