Come - On May 23, the Home Relief Society held its third annual medi- cal institute day, at Webster Hall, with several hundred women at- teqding. Following the luncheon, Mrs. Arthur A. Ginsburg, president, took the chair for the business session of the meeting. She re- ported that since Feb. 1, the so- ciety has spent $2,977 for general relief, rent, coal, gas, lights, milk for needy. Mrs. Charles Cornell, past presi- dent of the organization and pres- ent chairman of the case com- mittee, reported on dozens of emergency relief calls handled daily by the society. The socioty's yearly budget of $5,000 is raised from two sources. Two thousand dollars is realized from dues and contributions, all services and contributions being made voluntarily, and each year the society gives a dinner-dance in the fall which brings in about $3,000. Mrs. William Roth, chairman of the ways and means committee, announced that the annual dinner- dance would be given on Oct. 23. Pledge cards for the dinner-dance were distributed among the mem- bers and 'guests and Mrs. Roth requested that they be returned to the committee promptly. During the business session the society was addressed by Dr. George L. Waldbott. and Dr. Low- ell S. Selling. Judge D. J. Ilealy of the Pro- bate Court spoke on the new wel- fare bill that would abolish moth: ers' pensions. He urged everyone to vote against the bill next fall. The food shower to be given by the Home Relief Society, Neu- garten Sunshine Club and Zeda- kah Clubs for the benefit of the Play School will be held Wednes- day, June 1, at 2 p. m., at the Jewish Center. Admission fee to the shower is a package of food. A membership meeting of the Men's Club of Congregation Emanuel will be held Thursday evening, June 2, at the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Max J.
