Foundation Garments Made to Order

On Tuesday evening, May 17,
the Philomathic Debating Club will
holds its 36th annual model meet-
ing. Organized 40 years ago for
the purpose of giving young Jew-
ish boys between the ages of 14
and 21 an opportunity to learn the
art of public speaking, the Philo-
mathic has long been known as one
of the outstanding forensic so-
cieties of the city, and boasts of
such distinguished alumni as Judge
Charles Rubiner, Judge }lorry B.
Keidan and Prof. Samuel M. Levin,
head of the economics.department
at Wayne University.
The debate will be held at Cen-
tral High School, Linwood and
Tuxedo, at 8:30 p. m., and all are
invited. The question for discus-
sion will be: "Resolved, that the
United States join with the non,
Fascist powers in a policy of col-
lective security." The affirmative
will be upheld by Samuel Hertz-
berg, Martin Green and Norman
Leemon, while the negative will he
defended by David Crohn, Benja-
min Hertz and Harry Jacobs.
As is customary at these model
meetings, there will be three prizes
—the Louis Smilansky Gold Medal,
the Mrs. F. V. Martin Silver Med-
al, and the Cavanaugh Bronze Med-
al—for the three best speakers,
and the Judge Harry J. Binge-
man loving cup for the winning
team. The winning team is se-
lected by the organization itself,
but the best speakers are chosen
by the three judges who, this year,
are: Melvin German, an alumni;
Paul Rickard, of Wayne Univer-
sity, and Judge George Murphy of
Recorder's Court.
Louis Elkind, speaker of the
Philomathic, will preside at the af-
fair next Tuesday evening.
