Practicability of Zionism

During a panel discussion on
Saturday afternoon, four members
of the organization attempted to
show that Zionism in its aim to
develop a homeland in Palestine is
a democratic movement, that it en-
courages certain ,socialistic forms
of life in Palestine, and that its
ideology and practical program
have nothing in common with com-
munism and fascism.
Sirs. Hyman B. Ullian of Bos-
ton, who directed the discussion,
told the delegates that with the
emergence of Zionism from a the-
ory to a practical movement and
particularly in the light of its ac-
complishmenst in Palestine during
the 20 years since the Balfour De-
claration, Zionism must not be re-
garded as an isolated phenomenon
but as an integral part of all
world movements. She pointed out
that it is important for Zionists
not only to study Zionism and its I
work but to understand such major
socio-political forms as Commun.!
ism, Socialism, Fascism and de.;
mocracy in order to see if Zion-
ism takes color from any of these.
