Mizrachi Organization Will Elect Officers Saturday Harold Silver, director of the Jewish Social Service Bureau, made the following statement on the occanian of the donor luncheon to be held Dec. 1, by the Eva l'renzlauer Maternity Aid: "The bulk of social service for the Jewish community in Detroit is being performed by the agencies affiliated with the Jewish Welfare Federation. These are financed partly by the Detroit Community Fund and partly by the Allied Jewish Campo!gn, There are, how- ever, a number of small women's groups operating in the field of family welfare and relief who are attempting to do a relief job on an emergency basis or to take care of special situations which the budget of the Jewish Social Serv- ice Bureau does not provide for. Among these, the Eta Prenzlauer Maternity Aid is outstanding, not particularly because of the large size or the ;ergo amount of money they raise, but because of the fine Job they are doing. They are spe- cializing in providing hospitaliza- tion for expectant mothers for whom hospital facilities cannot be secured through the city physi- cian's office. While the number of such cases is not large, the service performed Is very important, The Eva Pr,....lauer Maternity Aid works closely with the Jewish So- cial Service Bureau, which makes all investigations on their cases and makes recommendations to the society. The members of the group realize the importance of investiga- tions being done by trained work- ers and also the wisdom of spe- cializing In a restricted field of activity. These are two virtues which not all relief societies pos- sess, For that reason, I am glad to endorse the donor luncheon to b e given by the Eva Prenzlauer Maternity Aid on Dec. 1 at Stotler Hotel, and wish them all success," Junior Jewish National Fund Dance Jan. 23 A special tneetina: of the Jew. ish National Fund Juniors was presided over by the president, Morrey Shepherd, at the home of Miss Gross of Sturtevant Ave. Plans for the 8th annual dance, to be held Jan. 23, at Stotler Ho- tel, were discussed.
