Ge5.1. CHRONICLE

Last Tuesday, Dr. Leo M.
Franklin addressed a group of
clergymen representing the Amer-
ican committee for the relief of
Christian refugees from Germany.
It is the purpose of this group to
raise funds, for Christians who
have been ostracized from the
Reich, particularly those who, be-
cause of having Jewish blood in
their veins, are ranked as Jews
and treated as such, even though
they may have been affiliated with
the Christian church for genera-
tions.

The new chapter of the Detroit
Women of Mizrachi held its open -
ing meeting of the season on
Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 27, at
the home of Mrs. A. M. Hersh-
man, 2698 Calvert Ave. Mrs.
Jack Tobin presided.
This newly organized group
will devote itself to cultural ac-
tivities. While many of the indi-
vidual members of this group will
co-operate and assist the estab-
lished Mizrachi Women's Organ-
ization in its fund-raising activi-
ties, the New Mizrachi Women's
Group as an organization will
confine itself to study and cultural
work.
The group will meet for study
every alternate Saturday after-
noon at Shaarey Zedek under the
joint leadership of Rabbi A. M.
Hershman, and Max ChomskY.
The next meeting will take place
on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6,
at 3 p. m., in the small prayer
room.
