WOMEN TOLD OF
HOSPITAL NEEDS

The need for the establishment
of a Jewish hospital in Detroit
was explained before the women
of the Mount Sinai Hospital Asso-
ciation, at a meeting held Tues-
day afternoon at the Book Cadillac
Hotel. Dr. Emanuel S. Gould,
chairman of the United Jewish
Hospital Committee, and Samuel
S. Leve, director of the bureau of
investigation for Wayne County,
were the speakers of the after-
noon.
Nathaniel Goldstick, assistant
corporation counsel, acted as chair-
man of the day, being introduced
by Mrs. Jacob Ilarvith, president
of the organization. Dr. Gould

those who have neglected placing
their pledges, do so at the earliest
moment.
"Judging from the number of
pledges which we have already re-
ceived," says Mrs. Polozker, "there
is every indication that more
people than ever before have be-
come appreciative and aware of
the worthy work of the Home Re-
lief Society, and are eager to sup-
port our projects. This dinner
dance is our major budget raising
event, and we need the interest of
every one to continue to care for
those suffering want and illness."
Mrs. Joseph Jacobs is associate
chairman of pledges, and the fol-
lowing are members of this com-
mittee: Mrs. DaVid Saffir, Mrs. Al

Mr. Leve, whose duties include
the hospitalization of indigents in

clients to hospitals per week re-

he said, and 13 of the 1,300 at

Many of these, particularly aged

Thanked for Aid to Conference

Editor, Detroit Jewish Chronicle:
On behalf of the Jewish National Fund of Amer-
ica, I want to express through you and the columns
of The Detroit Jewish Chronicle our deep sense of
gratitude for the whole-hearted co-operation we re-
ceived from the Jewish community of Detroit in
having made the memorable Palestine Land Re-
demption Conference, held in your city this last
week-end, the success that it was.
First, our thanks to Philip Slomovitz as the gen-
eral chairman of the arrangements committee and
to Dr. Israel Wiener, his able associate and chair-
man of the Jewish National Fund Council of De-
troit; second, to The Detroit Jewish Chronicle for
the valuable space that you have allotted to our
cause in the course of the last week, which publicity
was in a very large measure responsible for arousing
.city-wide interest in the Jewish National Fund con-
clave; third, to Mrs. Harry Buchman and Mrs. Sam-
uel N. Heyman, chairmen of the banquet committee,
and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the J. N. F.; to Wil-
liam Hordes, chairman of the Registration commit-
tee, and the others who have worked so indefa-
tigably and whose ceaseless energy was, in the
largest measure, responsible for the magnificent
conference, the climax of which was the dinner held
on Sunday evening.
Sincerely yours,
