Club Hears Appeal for
Hebrew Ladies Aic
Centos Orphanage
Society

The Jennie Needle Goodman
Club's first meeting of the new
season was held Sept. 22, at the
residence of Mrs. Z. Needle, 641
Josephine Ave.
Morris Kwaselow was the guest
of honor and gave a talk on his
recent European trip. He visited
the Centos Orphanage in Kleivan,
Poland, which is the beneficiary
of the Jennie Nettle Goodman
Club. There are 44 permanent
charges at the orphanage and they
are underfed and ill-clad, Their
total income is approximately $9
a month, which accounts for their
being under-fed as it would take
at least $35 a month to feed
them.
Mr. Kwaselow urged all
members of the club to work
hard for any money-raising ven-
ture the club would undertake.
The organization is planning a
rummage sale. Mrs. Mollie Gut-
erman was appointed chairman
of this committee. Any contri-
butions of old clothing, discarded
shoes, etc., would be very ap-
preciated. Call Mrs, Guterman at
Townsend 7-5443 and arrange-
ments will be made to have ar-
ticles contributed picked up.

meat, issued the following com-
munique: "The Palestine govern-
ment has been gravely concerned
by the existence of an organized
campaign of terrorism and assas-
sination directed against individ-
uals in this country. During the
last four months this campaign
has become intensified in its activi-
ties. The action now taken is a
direct result of the murder cam-
paign, On June 13 an attempt was
made to assassinate the Inspector
General of Police, Roy G. B. Spi-
cer. There followed a number of
assassinations of Arabs and Jews,
culminating on Sept. 26 in the
dastardly murder of Lewis Y. An-
drews, district commissioner, and
Constable McEwan.
The officer administering the
government therefore found it
necessary to institute ac t ion
against certain persons whose ac-
tivities are prejudicial to the
maintenance of public security and
who must be regarded as morally
responsible for these events. The
officer administering the govern-
ment orders the Arab II igher
Committee and all national com-
mittees in Palestine declared un-
lawful associations. Warrants of
arrest have been issued with re-
spect to the following who are to
be deported: Jamal Hussein', Ah-
med Ililmi Pasha, Filed Saba, Ya-
coub Ghussein and Dr, Hussein
Khalidi. Raj Amin El Ilusseini
has been deprived of the office of
president of the Supreme Moslem
Council and of membership and
chairmanship of the Waqf Com-
mittee."
Ends Power of Jerusalem Mufti
The action taken against the
Mufti of Jerusalem ends a domi-
nation he has held over Arab af-
fairs for 16 years. When there
were disturbances in 1920 the
Mufti was sentenced to several
years Sn prison, but he was par-
doned by Sir Herbert Samuel, then
high commissioner, in 1921. The
Mufti is charged with having been
the spearhead in all Arab anti-
British and anti-Jewish agitation
in Palestine. By removing from
his control the income of the
Waqf, the government believes
that it is eliminating his chief
source of power among the Arabs.
