Harvest Festival
of Mothers Clubs
Thursday Evening
Considerable interest is being
evidenced in Detroit's northwest
section over the harvest festival
which will be held Thursday even-
ing, Sept. 30, by the Mothers'
Club Garden Project. The event,
to be held at the site of the gar-
den, on Humphrey Avenue be-
tween Dexter and Holmur, will
recall in pageantry the ancient
Jewish harvest celebrations.
A large plot of ground was
cleared this spring and planted
into vegetable gardens by mem-
bers of Mothers' Clubs living in
the vicinity, and according to
Mary Caplan, director of the
clubs, the project has evoked con-
siderable enthusiasm not only
among mothers in the vicinity,
but also among those in other
neighborhoods as well. Plans are
already afoot, Miss Caplan said,
for the introduction of gardens
in several other locations next
