A luncheon and fashion show
will open the season's activities
of the Detroit chapter of Hadas-
sah, Monday, Sept. 13, 12:30 p.
m, at the Detroit Leland Hotel.
Mrs. Harold Allen, who is di-
recting the fashion show, an-
nounces that the following mem-
bers of Hadassah will serve as
models: Mrs. Harold Allen. Mrs.
Hy Cramer, Mrs. George Gal-
anty, Mrs. Harry Kohn, Mrs.
Royal Oppenheim, Mrs. Maurice
Schlafer and Mrs. Emil Stern.
Among the shops displaying the
new fall fashions will be: kv-
ing's, Edith Brown, Ilimmelhoch's,
Milgrim's. Pack-Wolin's, Sax-
Kay's, Walter's and Robert Furs.
Introducing the models, as
fashion commentator, will be Mrs.
A. Harry Brodie.
The program will also include
Mrs. Ezra Shapiro of Cleveland,
who will review the highlights of
her trip to Palestine and the
World Zionist Congress in Zurich,
Switzerland.

of Chief Rabbi Akiba Wertheimer
of Hamburg, who under the
pseudonym of Constatin Brunner,
achieved world-wide fame as a
disciple of Spinoza and the found-
er of his own school of philosophy,
is dead here at the age of 75. A
native of Altona, Germany, he de•

University of Berlin, where he
attracted notice by his violent
criticism of Kant. Creator of the

Zweig Tops Authors
Whose Works Are
Widely Translated

PARIS. — (WNS) — Stefan
Z w e i g, Austrian-Jewish author,
shares with Jack London and Ed-
gar Wallace the distinction of be-
ing one of the three authors whose
works have been translated into
the most languages. A report by
the Institute of International Co-
operation in Paris credits Zweig's
books with having been translated
into 25 languages, including the
Chinese, Japanese, Ukrainian and
Georgian.
