The femmes will stage a 9-hole
medal play tournament next
Tuesday. Mrs. Samuel Glassman
will be stationed at the first tee
to start off the contestants and
to provide playing partners for
those who desire them. If you
haven't as yet arranged a two-
some or ■ foursome don't hesi-
tate to come out anyway, and
Mrs. Glassman will supply you
with a partner. There will be two
prizes as usual. Members are
urged to bring guests. The win-
ners of last Tuesday's kickers
tournament were Mrs. Otto A.
Weiss and Mrs. Sol Kopman. The
door prize was won by Mrs. Alex
Schreiber.

This Saturday and Sunday.
July 3 and 4, the men will hold
a 36-hole medal play tournament.
Players will be divided into two
classes. Those with handicaps
of 24 or under will be in Class
A. Those with handicaps over
24 will be in Class B. There will
be prizes for each class.


Eddie Bernie and Leo Marks
are the best of friends every-
where but on • golf course.
They wouldn't concede each
other an inch putt if his life
depended on it. So, one day ■
short time ago, Eddie had one
of his "off" days and scored a
13 on the 14th hole. When Leo
heard about it, he guffawed till
tears rolled down his cheeks
•nd with fiendish glee he chalk-
ed the score on the blackboard
in the locker room so that all
may see it. The following day,
Leo, content with the world,
started a round of golf. When
he came to the 14th hole, he
suddenly thought of his pal

guffawed some more. But soon
thereafter gloom dispelled joy
because Leo scored • 14!


Moral for the week:

A Detroit delegation represent-
ing the local chapter of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress and the con-
ference of Jewish organizations
that was called for the purpose of
considering the constitution of the
Jewish Community Council will
join a national delegation at Wash-
ington next Thursday morning to
present a memorandum of griev-
ances to Secretary of State Cor-
dell Hull in protest against the
occurrences in Poland.
Secretary Hull will receive the
national delegation of 200 at 11
a. m. and will hear recomtnenda

Pisgah Lodge Holds First Execu-
tive Meeting Under Leader-
ship of S. W. Leib

Last Monday night, June 28,
Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith held
Its first general committee meet-
ing under the leadership of Sam-
uel W. Leib, its newly elected
president.
At this meeting elaborate plans
were laid for an active year. The
first of the events to take place
will be a joint summer frolic to
be held at the Bnai Moshe Syna-
gogue on July 14, to be sponsored
by Pisgah Lodge, Louis Marshall
Lodge and the Ladies Auxiliary.
The moonlight, which is to take
place July 25, is working in full
swing. Tickets for the moonlight
may be obtained by calling any of
the following: Samuel W. Leib,
Herman Osnos, Benjamin F. Gold-
man, Henry Thumin, Albert Gold-
berg, Dr. Maurice Silverman.
Another event which will be of
considerable interest to the mem-
bers is the coming 80th anniver-
sary of Pisgah Lodge. Prepara-
tions are already under way for
this event,

Great interest is being displayed
by the Jewish community in the
outing sponsored jointly by the
Ladies Auxiliary of Yeshiva Beth
Yudah and the Detroit Ladies
Lechem Aniylm, at Put-in-Bay, on
July 11.
In addition to the activity of the
members of both the above organi-
zations, many organizations are in-
terested in this affair.
Several interesting events have
been scheduled that will appeal
especially to the younger members
of the community.
A committee has been appointed
consisting of Louis Nathanson,
Gerald Goldberg, Norman Rom, and
Meyer Weisenfeld, with Irving W.
Schlussel as chairman to take
charge of these events.

by the members of the Children's
Congregation of the Philadelphia-
Byron School. The following

This congregation assembles
each Saturday morning at 9:45
in one of the large rooms of the
Philadelphia - Byron and holds
Saturday morning services. Fea-
