Palestine Hunts Arabs Who Shot
at Police Inspector•Gen.
eral Spicer

The Arab National Committee
has set in motion a fruitless
search for the three Arab snip-
ers who fired five shots at Roy
G. Spicer, inspector-general of
the Palestine police. The com-
mittee ordered a hunt throughout
Jerusalem and the villages in tho
vicinity, but no results were re-
ported. Spicer was shot at by
the Arabs as they surrounded his
car in the center of Jerusalem.
The inspector-general was not
wounded, but his driver, Constable
Morris Milner, was wounded in
the chest, necessitating his re-
moval to the hospital. The scene
of the attack was in the vicinity
of numerous government offices.
Spicer was on his way to his of-
flee when three fellaheen armed
with revolvers stopped his car, in
which he ocupied therear seat.
Immediately after the shoot-
ing the police conducted an in-
tensive search for the gunmen,
raiding Arab cafes , throughout
the city, questioning passersby at
the scene of the crime and stop-
ping all cars leaving the city. A
Jewish eye-witnesses told the po-
lice that three Jewish passersby
had chase dthe Arab snipers to-
ward the Old City, where they
had been lost in a crowd. A
number of Arab suspects were
reported detained by the police.
Spicer is scheduled to leave by
air on June 21, for a holiday In
England.
