WRESTLING AT ARENA GAR.
DENS MONDAY EVENING

George Zaharias, demon Greek
mat gladiator, and Orville Brown,
Kansas giant, have been signed
for a re-match at the Arena Gar-
dens next Monday evening.
These heavyweight title con-
tenders waged a hectic battle in
the same ring last Monday which
resulted in the disqualification of
Brown for the second fall by Ref-
eree Vern Clark who declare a
foul on the Kansan because he
pushed him aside and allegedly
used the illegal strangle.

hallo, Kuhn denounced La Guar-
dia, Congressman Dickstein and
Untermyer and shouted that "we
will fight like our forefathers for
this country. If La Guardia and
others don't like us they can get
out of the country. We don't
need them here." Calling Con-
gressman Dickstein "Congressman
Dickswine," Kuhn blamed Jews
for the sit-down strikes and said
President Roosevelt is a puppet
of Jews.
A warning "not to flatter our-
selves that the extreme forces of
German racialism may not pene-
trate to the United States" be-
cause "the soil here is ripe for
them In more ways than one" is
sounded by Father John La Fargo
in an article in the Catholic
weekly, America. Asserting that
"racialism and nationalism both
fall under the same condemna-
tion," Father La Fargo declares
that "there is no essential differ-
ence between the mob that takes
a human life out of contempt for
a so-called inferior race; a Nazi
who proclaims that written trea-
ties cannot be suffered to cramp
his racial style; and the Com-
munist who preaches violence in
the name of class warfare."

in the small insurance firms and
that such insurance companies as
the New York Board of Fire Un-
derwriters and the Royal Insur-
ance Co., employing approxi-
mately 1,600 persons, employ only
21 Jews. The American Employ.
ment Exchange, Inc., the Rose
Brophy Agency, are among the
agencies which refuse to accept
Jewish applicants. The Pace
Agency, dealing with applications
for accountants, informed the
committee's Investigator that they
would not consider a Jewish ap-
plicant. Many of the largest em-
ployment agencies limit Jewish
applicants by the simple device of
asking the religion of the ap-
plicant. Among these he said, are
the Hamilton Employment Serv-
ice, Inc., and the Nationel Em-
ployment Exchange. An investiga-
tion of 40 commercial agencies
showed "that even the unpreju-
diced employer is given only the
Christian applicant" A tabulation
of the records of an employment
agency serving many important
New York companies, showed that
of 400 firms in N. Y., 356 or 89
per cent, declared that "they pre-
ferred Christians."
The discrimination against Jews
in employment in the white collar
market applies also to Jews in
professions, Rabbi Cohen asserts.
Although on the whole Jews have
a fair opportunity in the public
school teaching system, where
competitive examinations are in-
volved, they do not fare as well
in the appointive positions. "New
York with its 55 day high schools
has but five Jewish principals.
Employment of Jews in private
schools is virtually impossible.
One agency recalls . that 'we placed
one Jewish teacher in eight
years.'" A study covering 179
universities showed "that 36 had
no Jews on their staffs, 87 had
appointed Jews to the extent of
2 per cent and 62 had 1.8 per
cent of Jewish members on the
faculty."
Jews are also discriminated
against in dentistry, pharmacy
and engineering. Rabbi Cohen
quotes a letter from the Associat-
ed Employment Exchange of
Cleveland stipulating that phar-
macists applying for positions be
Gentiles, and declares that em-
ployment agencies agree that
"few Jews get jobs in the engi-
neering field."
