Historical Society
Gives Noah Exhibit
j In connection with the publics-

of the New York Courier and En-
Publication Society of America, the
American Jewish Historical So-
ciety has arranged a special dis-
play of Noah material in its mu-
seum, 3080 Broadway.
The publication of this volume
by the Jewish Publication Society
was suggested by Dr. A. S. W.
Rosenbach, president of the Amer-
ican Jewish Historical Society, and
the exhibition has been arranged
by Edward II. Coleman, librarian,
and consists of all available Mor-
decai M. Noah data.
The exhibition includes every
book written by Noah, including
all of his plays which were print-
ed; contemporaneous criticisms of
his time; a play about Noah pro-
duced in New York in 1928; his
original proposition to found a
Hebrew College in the United
States; contemporaneous accounts
of Noah at the time of his death;
books written about Noah; all pre-
vious biographies on Mordecai
Noah; as well as his original let-
ters on many subjects.
One of the most interesting
items in the display is the desk
used by Noah when he was editor
of the New York Courier and En-
quirer, a desk which he also used
when he was editor of the Union.
His cane and watch are included
in the display. An edition of the
Book of the Yasher, known as
Sepher Ha-Yasher, published by
him in 1840, including a preface
written by him, is of real distinct
value. His speech in 1845 on Zion-
ism, considered by the Jewish En-
cyclopedia as the best speech he
ever made, is also on display.
The exhibition is open to the
public.
Reinald Werrenrath, the world
famous baritone, will sing at a
concert sponsored by the Non-
Sectarian Anti-Nazi League on
April 27 at Carnegie Hall, New
York City, because he wishes to
participate as an American of
German heritage who resents
everything that has happened in
Nazi Germany."
Plans for the concert, in which
a number of great artists will
participate, and which will offer a
program of music which for the
most part is barred in Nazi Ger-
many, are in charge of Leopold
Godowaky, renowned pianist, who
declared when accepting the chair-
manship of the event:
"I am only too happy to en.
gage in any event which can
serve as an effective protest
against what has happened to
my German and Jewish col-
leagues in the Reich of Adolf
Hitler."
Among the other world-famous
artists who have already signified
their intention to appear at the
concert are Katherine Bacon, well-
known pianist, Harry Braun,
whose career has beep sponsored
